I would like to wish all of our friends who celebrate Christmas a Merry Christmas.
The end of the year holidays are a wonderful time with its theme of light in the darkness. It is, after all, the winter solstice — the longest night of the year. At this time of year many of us get up before the sun rises and return to our houses after dark. Farms are mostly quiet, since little grows in the cold dark of winter.
Despite the darkness, the end of year is festive and hopeful. It is a time of generosity, family, and celebration. At Neighborhood Place of Puna it is the season when we get the opportunity to distribute children’s gifts and holiday goodies to the families we serve.
It is also the time of the year when we ask you to consider making a donation to support the many families Neighborhood Place of Puna serves through our various programs: Emergency Shelter, Family Resource Center, Housing Navigation and Stabilization, etc.
