2025 Sponsor a Hale

Join Us in Ending Family Homelessness: Sponsor a Hale at Hale ʻIki in 2025

As the year draws to a close, Neighborhood Place of Puna invites you to make a lasting impact in 2025 through our Sponsor a Hale program. By becoming a sponsor, you help local families transition from homelessness to permanent housing, bringing stability, hope, and the opportunity for a brighter future.

What is Hale ʻIki?

Hale ʻIki is more than just a shelter—it’s a lifeline for families experiencing homelessness. Located in Puna, it’s a Family Assessment Center where parents and children find not only temporary refuge but also the support needed to rebuild their lives.

Hale ʻIki consists of 10 micro-units, or hale, where families receive essential services like food, clothing, and access to a shared kitchen, laundry, and bathroom facilities. More importantly, it’s a place where they can begin healing from the trauma of homelessness, with 24/7 staff providing a safe and nurturing environment.

The sound of keiki (children) laughing and playing in the afternoons is a powerful reminder that, despite the hardships these families have faced, hope and joy can still flourish at Hale ʻIki.

How Can You Help? Sponsor a Hale.

From November 15, 2024, to January 31, 2025, we’re calling on individuals, organizations, and churches to Sponsor a Hale for the coming year.

For just $200 a month in 2025 or a one-time donation of $2,400 per hale, you can be directly connected to one of Hale ʻIki’s 10 hale, where your generosity will provide tangible support and give families the tools to rebuild their lives.  You also have the option to sponsor multiple hale!

Your Sponsorship Makes a Difference

Your sponsorship has two life-changing effects:

  1. Immediate Support for Families
Your monthly donation covers essential costs like rental applications, vital document replacements, bedding, furniture, hygiene supplies, and kitchen essentials—helping families make the transition from shelter to stable housing.
  2. Maintaining a Safe, Hopeful Environment
Your contribution also ensures the hale and grounds are cared for, reflecting the values of dignity and opportunity. A well-maintained environment inspires hope, reminding families that a safe, permanent home is within reach.

Why Sponsor a Hale?

Ending family homelessness is a community effort, and your commitment to Sponsor a Hale means that you are part of the solution.

Your donation will:

  • Ensure that families have the immediate support they need to stabilize and move toward permanent housing.
  • Help families focus on their future, providing a space where children can feel safe, play, and dream again.
  • Preserve the dignity and hope that Hale ʻIki offers, ensuring families know they are cared for by their community.

Limited Sponsorships Available

With only 10 hale available for sponsorship, this opportunity is limited. By acting now, you can ensure that your generosity directly impacts the lives of families facing homelessness. Your support will not only provide shelter and basic necessities but also restore hope and dignity to those who need it most.

Thank you for standing with us in the fight to end family homelessness in Hawaiʻi County. Your commitment changes lives, creates opportunity, and fosters a stronger, more compassionate community.

A "Mahalo Board" was created in honor of one of our 2022 sponsors. Included are the hand prints of all the individuals who were sheltered in the sponsor's hale.
