Free and confidential strength-based services for families with minor children — now available on the go with our new Mobile Family Resource Center van!
The Mobile Family Resource Center (MFRC) program provides essential support services to families in underserved communities. The MFRC van will visit neighborhoods, schools, and community hubs to bring accessible, free, and confidential services to families with minor children.
Services provided through the Mobile Family Resource Center:
- Emergency supplies such as food, diapers, wipes, and hygiene items
- Computer and phone access for job searches, applications, and communication
- Case management and resource navigation
- Parenting support including coaching, classes, and talk-story connection opportunities
- Housing support navigation and assistance for families experiencing or at risk of homelessness
The Mobile Family Resource Center expands the reach of Neighborhood Place of Puna’s existing Family Resource Center, where access is free and voluntary for Hawaiʻi County families with minor children. The MFRC serves as a safe and welcoming hub offering supplies, activities, education, and guidance to promote stable, nurturing home environments.
Neighborhood Place of Puna thanks Senator Schatz and Senator Hirono for supporting this project through the Congressionally Funded Community Project (CFCP) fund, as well as Blueprint for Change and the Hawaiʻi ʻOhana Support Network for bringing this project to fruition.
