Neighborhood Place of Puna’s Community Round Table meetings are an opportunity for non-profit organizations, social service agencies, businesses, and concerned citizens to come together to share news, resources, information about upcoming events, and work together on common projects.
The Community Roundtable is also a forum to identify the unique challenges faced by families living in East Hawaii and support coordinated and cooperative activities and programs to address these challenges.
Most importantly, the Community Roundtable is about strengthening our community by empowering individuals and groups to be catalyst for positive change in East Hawaii.
Currently the Neighborhood Place of Puna Community Roundtable meets jointly with the Network Weavers Learning Circle. Generally meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. We meet in Hilo at the Office of Housing and Community Development, located at 1990 Kinoole St.
Roundtable participants have:
- Help put together our annual Free School Supplies Distribution
- Worked together with community members and local government to help get a playground built at the Mountain View gym
- Worked on issues of transportation, internet infrastructure, water access, emergency preparedness in Puna
- Organized community events and work to make sure that families have the resources they need to be successful in raising safe and healthy children
All are welcome to attend our monthly round table meetings. Please sign up for our newsletter so that you find out what is happening at Neighborhood Place of Puna and in the Neighborhood.
